Free Word Excel Password Wizard is a powerful yet easy to use application that allows you to recover file open passwords for Word / Excel 97 to Word / Excel XP 2003 files in a few steps. This incredible program works by trying words from a large dictionary, that is included with the download, against the file, then tries character combinations to find most common file open passwords. However, if you need to recover long and complex Word or Excel passwords you may wish to try Ultimate Zip Cracker software or Decryptum, since with Free Word Excel Password Wizard it may take a long time due to the billions of passwords that may need to be tested. The program features a very simple and intuitive user interface which does not need any technical knowledge to be operated and makes the recovery process a breeze. The software runs on any Windows 9x and later PC. All in all if you are looking for an efficient and free application that allows you to recover file open passwords for Word / Excel 97 to Word / Excel XP 2003 files, Free Word Excel Password Wizard is perfect for you.

I tried several password recovery programs and this free one worked fine. I used the brute force method and it took about 8 hours to work out the forgotten MS Word password. I set it to look for 0-9, a-z, A-Z and special characters.
In the past I've used a commercial program to recover a password for Excel. I paid about $15. and got an instant result, but this program would have worked out the password if I'd known about it and if I'd been prepared to wait a day or 2.
If you know that the password is long, and/or you need it in a hurry, it may be worthwhile using a commercial program that will give an instantaneous result.
